When the Students Go Home [Part 1]

It's spring break!!

I closed the residence hall last week and now they're all gone. No screaming students. No running down the hallway. No loud music playing at 2am. Just peace and quiet and a big 'ole building all to ourselves.

And what do we do when the students go home? We refinish furniture!

I was driving Kyle to work the other day and we saw a sad, old desk sitting on the curb. I asked Kyle (pretty please!) if I could take it home for a craft desk. He said sure, but I don't think he thought I was serious. On my way back home I stopped to check it out. A treasure I tell you, a treasure! I loaded the desk and four drawers into the car (the other two drawers were pretty gross). I'm not really sure how I picked it up...it was heavy...but I guess if you want something bad enough the weight is nothing!

I was worried that Kyle was going to tell me it was a hunk of junk and that I shouldn't have wasted my time. Instead, he was quite impressed with my find! Yay garbage!

We went to Ace to gather all our supplies. We used Ready Strip Plus to stip the various shades of paint from the desk.

It worked like magic (and smelled pretty good too...kinda like candy).

Look at my hunky husband!

Worked like a charm.

I can't wait to show you the finished project!
