Bittersweet Goodbye Part 1

Bye bye hair.

You've been oh so good to me, and I have loved you for so long.

But now I send you off to someone who really needs you.

I will miss you, but I am happy to know that wherever you're going, you'll be loved.

I don't have pictures yet of my new haircut, and I'm not quite ready to tell the story, but I will soon. Promise.

Feel free to e-mail prayer requests. I'll post them later today.

Ask Away!

So forever ago I opened up myself to your questions.

And you all had some great ones.

And then I forgot about it.

But before I jump in and start talking, I wanted to give you one more chance to ask a few things.

I'm Home

After a long weekend away for work, I'm home. Be patient with me as I respond to e-mails, send out orders, and put up some blog posts.

Husband, be patient with me as I make a big mess of the apartment you cleaned this weekend and then slowly put it back together again.

Go Ahead, Ask Me Anything*

I've seen this Q&A thing a lot around blog world and I thought it would be fun.

So we've been friends for a while now, and there are lots of things you know about me.

Like how
- I have a cat named Jupiter
- I was born in Alaska
- I like to wear plaid
- I wear big 'ole awesome glasses

But maybe there are things you want to know.

Let's change that, shall we.

Feel free to leave a comment with any question you'd like.
[*but of course keep is nice and clean...Jesus can see this, y'all]

I will then post my answers next week.

Ok....go!

Miscellany Monday

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

1. In my opinion, there aren't many things more stressful than getting an eye exam.

source

 "What is better 1 or 2, 3 or 4?"

Oh my gosh, I don't know!

I get so nervous when I go through this exam. What if I say the wrong number? I'll screw up everything. My prescription didn't change too much. My right eye is a little bit worse and my left eye is a bit more astigmatism-ey. But I did get to order new glasses! I picked them from the grandpa rack, but I think they look great!

2. Why do grocery stores insist on stocking so many types of toilet paper? I get so overwhelmed standing in front of all the billion types of toilet paper varieties. And of course I can never remember which kind I bought last time.

3. Last night was the first time I tried dying my hair myself. I donned the rubber gloves, mixed jar 1 with jar 2, and went to town. I kept reading the directions to make sure I had done everything right. It said mix stuff, put on hair, rinse out. So I jumped in the shower (and proceeded to get my entire shower curtain purple in the process). After drying my hair I realized that all the way to the right of the directions was a sentence that said "leave in for 25 minutes." Well shoot! I guess I'll be dying my hair again next week.

4. We're supposed to get 15 inches of snow this week. I was born and raised in Alaska, but no matter how much snow we get, I will just never get used to it.

Everyone keeps asking me "being from Alaska, you must be used to this, right?" No, it's still cold.

One of Those Days

It's one of those days where you just want to crawl back into bed and sleep until spring.

[don't mind the mouse behind sticking up...that's her little mrs. mouse toy]

But instead I am finishing coffee cozies, finishing laundry, cleaning the bedroom, and listing a few items here

What are you up to today?

Pie From The Sky

Kyle and I are trying to eat better. We don't want to, but we got to.

Tonight we went to an old fashioned diner with a few friends. We both had a sensible meal with a milk shake for a little treat. But what the diner is really known for is its pie.

When everyone else ordered pie, we declined (with my hand firmly gripping Kyle's thigh).

When we were offered multiple bites of peanut fudge cream pie, I we said no.

We were doing so well, when a women came over and said that she noticed our food came out really slow and that she wants to treat us to pie.

At first I thought she was just a concerned patron. Then she brought out food to a table and I thought she was just a really active patron. But then I was informed that she was the manager. Now in my defense, she was wearing normal clothes where the rest of the staff were donning poodle skirts.

Kyle said that if he were really responsible he would have turned down the free pie, to which our friend responded, "that wouldn't have been responsible, that would have been stupid."

Regardless, it was fate. We got pie.

Banana cream pie.

Don't let the picture fool you. We spilt it.

We're Home...

source
Just to leave again.

We're headed to Chicago tomorrow after work. I have never done anything cool for New Year's Eve...unitl this year! I'm going today to buy a cute something to wear. My standard sweaters and plaid flannel shirts just won't cut it folks.

Cozy

The other day, my hubby told me the word that best describes me is "cozy."

That's the nicest compliment I've ever received.

Happy Monday!

Miscellany Monday: Thanksgiving and What Not

1. Thanksgiving with family

The last week was nothing short of amazing! Kyle and I spent a full 6 days with my parents in Pennsylvania and it was wonderful to be home, hug and kiss my family, and be reminded what I am truly thankful for.

Don't mind the turkey sticker. Kyle is growing a beard and he wants his parents to be surprised with the final reveal!

While in PA we went to Primanti Brothers, a staple for Pittsburghers. I am ashamed to say that I've never been there, so it was a great adventure!

Their sandwiches are loaded with cole slaw (the vingeary kind) and french fries

I thought mine was yummy.

Mom and I started a craft project. It was looking great, and then we ran out of Christmas balls. I'm waiting for her to send me the final pictures.

2. Getting ready for Christmas

I pulled out the decorations today. We don't have many, but then again we don't have much space either. I'm excited to post pictures soon.

If you're looking for some great Christmas music, may I suggest the "folk holiday" station on Pandora.

Go to pandora.com (and log in or create an account)
Click on Genre Stations in the lower left corner
Click on "holiday" and then "folk holidays"

So good!

3. Cyber Monday

If you're interested in buying a few handmade items for that lady on your list (wife, girlfriend, sister, whomever), I'd love it if you stopped by my shop and took a look around.

Enter the coupon code CYBERMONDAY2010 for 15% off your order!

4. Vera sale

I have quite a large Vera Bradley collection and in trying to be a bit more minimalistic (and not get trapped under my huge purse collection) I would love to sell a few. Send me an e-mail if you'd like to know which ones I am selling.
