A Happy Beginning

This week has been a tough one. From moving 400 students into their new "home," to some serious student issues, to a building that seems to be falling down around me, there has been a lot to deal with lately. And a lot to get me down.

But boy, oh boy, I don't think I've ever been happier.

This week is the start of an amazing new school year. It's the beginning of something special in the lives of my students, my RAs, my husband, and me. Tonight Kyle and I were riding our bikes across campus. It was a little chilly and the breeze was so comforting. With the end of summer comes the beginning of so much.

And I am so happy to see it starting!

I have had a constant stream of crying students in my office. I've gotten e-mails and phone calls that all beg for my undivided attention. I have met students who are thrilled to be at college, and others who just assume go home. They are nervous, scared, excited, and awaiting all that their college experience will bring them.

And I am thankful to God that he has blessed with with the opportunity to be a part of this journey with them.

I hope you've been able to chose happiness this week. It's a season of new beginnings for kids and students and adults and teachers and parents and hall coordinators alike.

Bring it on!

  1. As with anything else, happiness is a choice. I think sometimes in the dailiness of life we forget that. Way to go to take control and be positive!

  2. Your attitude of happiness will help those around you, those students included. They will be glad they had you.

  4. I love your blog! So true, so inspiring, and so uplifting. Great post too...it's so true. We can all choose to feel sorry for our hectic crazy lives or we can choose to be happy that we're blessed with so much.

Thanks for the reminder...came over from NFF!
