Virtual Coffee

Thanks for meeting me for coffee, friend.

Can you just give me a big hug?

There are many people that I love dearly who are in need of physical healing.

"Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you, I will help you,
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Isaiah 41:10

If we were really meeting for coffee, I would probably tell you that, although I know God is merciful and just and His will is perfect, I am still confused on why sickness happens.

This is where you would tell me to trust Him in all things. And pray without ceasing.

  1. I find this so hard to understand too! Thanks for sharing this verse. We do have to trust Him in all things!

  2. Good Morning Laura,
Here are a couple of verses to encourage you today. I think we all struggle with understanding the 'why'. I am thankful He knows the beginning to the end and I can trust Him with all of it.

For he does not willingly bring affliction or grief to anyone. Lamentations 3:33.

As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. 2 His disciples asked him, “Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” “Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him. John 9:1-3

    Blessings,

  4. I'm struggling with the same thing right now too with my own health. Kathleen said it beautifully. There really isn't much I can say to add to that.

But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. 2 Cor.4:7

  7. I'm praying for you today Laura! (And sending a hug your way!!!)

    James 1:2-4

"2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. 4 Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."

Not necessarily the easiest thing in the world to smile when things are tough, but I think God just wants us to remember He's got it all under control and that we'll only come out to be stronger! :)

  8. *HUG* It's so hard to watch those you love suffer and not understand why. I don't have the words to make it better, but I hope that the hug helps.

    Stopping by from Amy's.

  9. Laura, my dad is struggling with recurring cancer in his spine. One thing I have come to learn through watching his suffering is that it can bring you closer to the Lord. It's not a punishment, but a tool to teach empathy and compassion. If no one ever got sick, would we appreciate good health? If no one was ever sad, would we realize what it really is to be happy? Just some thoughts I've been pondering.

  10. *Big hug for you!*
I know how you feel - but yes, you must remember to trust God in ALL things, and at ALL times. He is forever good and forever faithful, and He has a purpose for everything, even though we may not personally ever know what it is. Keep trusting in His love and always remember that He alone knows what is best - and encourage your loved ones to do the same! I'll pray for all of you!
    Much love in Jesus,
    Traci

  15. Hugs for you Laura. I think that Kathleen summed it up best in the verses that she posted. I do believe that God allows us to go through trials to trust Him more. I need to be reminded of that all the time as well. Praying for you Laura! :)

  16. laura, i would certainly share a hug with you. it is so hard when all you can do is pray... when we'd much rather see the miracle. and i came across a very tough realization the other day as a friend & i were talking about the grace that is all around our friend who is trusting in God to whisk away her cancer. i'm talking BIG grace... in all she does. she makes us feel better, she is beauty in the valley. and i wondered... is God's purpose in all of this to show me how someone can give herself fully to God, even if the only answer is heaven? i am hoping not... but if that is His purpose, i have to admit is is beautiful. be strong...

  17. I'm not a coffee drinker, but I will gladly share a hug. By the way, did you notice that you left out an important word in the quote from Isaiah? It's "be NOT dismayed". God doesn't want us to be unhappy; that's why the "not" is in that verse!
