There's No Such Thing As 5 Easy Steps

While I was perusing the library for last month's Bloom Book last week [yes I know, I am very behind], I couldn't help but catch a few titles that really stood out to me.

Signature Sins
The 7 Deadly Sins
SIN

And then I saw these books

Spirituality for Dummies

5 Steps to Spiritual Growth

It made me sad.

There are things that come easy to us. Like focusing on our short comings, our inadequacies, on all the ways we fail.

Then, in order to compensate, we turn to the law. The 5 quick tips. The 7 easy steps. The 10 ways.

But then I saw it. The only book in the whole section that mattered [excluding the rows of bibles of course.]

Can you see it? Look closely.

He is Risen

If we can rest our hearts on that Truth, that one beautiful defining characteristic of our faith, we have all we need. Grace triumphs. Christ redeems. Jesus paid for our sins and his life provides us with all the steps and tips and tricks that we need.

"For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God."
 Ephesians 2:8

  1. Laura, what a lovely post. It seems the world is always looking for 'something' missing in their lives and He is there all the time just waiting to be asked in!

we sing this Christ Tomlin song during our worship all the time and I LOVE it!

    He became sin
    Who knew no sin
That we might become His Righteousness
He humbled himself and carried the cross

    Love so amazing
    Love so amazing

    Chorus:
    Jesus Messiah
    Name above all names
    Blessed Redeemer
    Emmanuel
    The rescue for sinners
    The ransom from Heaven
    Jesus Messiah
    Lord of all
