Summer Goals

Goal [noun]: the result of achievement toward which effort is directed; aim; end.

It's so easy to stand by and watch the summer fritter away-- the end of August has you wondering "where on earth did all that beautiful time go?"

So I'm setting a few summer goals. Goals that will hopefully keep me accountable to things that make me healthy and things that make me happy.

In talking with the 7-year-old daughter of some of our friends, I learned that she has summer goals, too.
- Have a pajama party
- Have a Barbie movie marathon
- Spend time each day talking with her tongue sticking out

Simple, attainable, and all in good fun!

So here are mine, hopefully just as reachable and just as fun.

- Read books that I've purchased at Goodwill/used book sales/library sales that I thought looked good but don't want to own forever. Read them and then donate them back. Books include: Blue Diary by Alice Hoffman (almost done), The Quickening Maze by Adam Foulds, The Memory Keeper's Daughter by Kim Edwards, Carmelo by Sandra Cisneros, Joy in the Morning by Betty Smith, and Troublesome Creek by Jan Watson.

- Make 5 new desserts (4 more after my oatmeal cream pies).

- Continue to drink 3 Nalgene's of water, peanut butter on something, a vitamin, at least one fresh veggie and one piece of fresh fruit, at least one walk-around-the-block each day.

- Continue to spend quality time in the Word.

- Make a koozie for my water bottle (I like a lot of ice but it's always so drippy).

- Start a few projects for the nursery (more on that to come).

So what do you think? Simple, attainable, and fun?

Do you make summer goals? I'd love to hear them!

  1. What a great list...I was thinking about my summer goals list as I was driving into work this morning...actually it was more of a brainstorm for June blog posts, ha!
I can't wait to see what kind of koozie you make :) I know what you mean about it getting drippy!

  3. Look into buying a Tervis (www.tervis.com) so you don't have to worry about "drippiness" on your water bottle. See my review here: http://kisslaughanddream.blogspot.com/2012/05/product-review-tervis.html.
