35/36 Weeks

So close to full term, and I think my nesting instincts are ramping up (as much as my energy will allow). Every night Kyle gets home, I bug him to do one more project around the home. Let's hang that there. Let's move that over there. Can we go up to the attic and get these? It will only take a few minute (my famous last words).

I know that our home will take a bit of a backseat when baby arrives so I'm trying to get it as homey as possible for our son. I want to bring him back to the most perfect home, filled with cozy comfort and love.

The nursery is about 99% done. One more project and an end table is all it needs. Oh, and a baby.

We had the inaugural "peeing on the new carpet" by the cat last night in the nursery. I was furious. Kyle was gracious and started reading how to help her adjust to all the changes. "She was scared, it didn't smell like her home," he said to me while fumes were coming out of my ears. He carefully cleaned it all up and lovingly played with her. What a good man he is.

But I guess I can relate to Jupiter and being scared. As the weeks pass and my belly grows and things get even more real, I get more scared. Scared of the labor and delivery, scared to bring home a baby, scared to see how life changes, scared I won't be able to do it.

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10

But I know that, in all those things, the Lord has this! He has me and my family in his hands. He has given me this perfect, precious child, he has prepared our lives and our hearts, he has been there every step (and has been planning long before we started)... he won't leave me now.

Baby D, can you believe it's October! It's your (hopeful) birthday month. Starting next week, as far as I'm concerned you can come any time you'd like. But let's keep October 30 in mind and try not to go too far past that.

Your nursery is almost done and your daddy and I both agree that it's the warmest, coziest room in the house. Guess what, we put your name on the wall! But shhh it's a secret. It's a special name that means a lot to both of us (for a few different reasons). Can't wait to share it with the world when you arrive!

You are starting to get quite the collection of books, little one. But it was bound to happen. We love books (so much that your dad has a degree in books, well sort of). We will read to you lots, little boy, and I can't wait until you can read to us! I wonder which ones will be your favorites.

It's getting so close Baby D. Counting down the days now until we get to meet our favorite little guy!

  1. Oh, it's getting so close. My husband is our dog whisperer at our house, too. I get so mad at them and he is always sweet with them and understands that they have has big changes.
