Miscellany Monday from Charlotte, NC

Miscellany Monday @ lowercase letters

Last week I traveled to Charlotte, NC for a conference (a bunch of people who do what I do talking about why we love what we do and how to do what we do better...it was great!).

So here's a bit of miscellany from Charlotte.

1. I don't much like taxi rides. I get very anxious having someone I don't know drive me around in a place I do not know either. Both taxi drivers we had we very, very fast drivers, weaving in and out of traffic. There was a point where I had to just close my eyes and clutch my purse until I was safely at the airport.

2. I also don't much like revolving doors. Actually, I have a complete irrational fear of revolving doors. Of course every hotel and restaurant that we went to in the city had one and I had to momentarily leave my group in search of a regular, old, non-revolving kind of door. What if it gets stuck? What if it runs me over? What if I can't seem to jump out when it's time? Irrational yes. But I'm not taking any chances.

3. My hotel room was beautiful!

I learned, however, that if we ever had a cleaning service (which we wouldn't) I would be the lady who had to clean the house before they came to clean my house. The first day as I was leaving I realized my room was a mess (it never ceases to amaze me how quickly I can mess up a place) and that I should just pick up a bit before the maid came in. Well I ended up cleaning the whole room. I didn't think they needed to waste their time on my room so I put the little "hey I'm busy in here, don't come in sign" before leaving. I just ended up leaving the sign on the door. I didn't want the cleaning staff to see what a messy guest I am!

4. I left my hubby at home and had the whole room to myself. It was sad. I slept on one side of the bed out of habit.

5. Although I'm not much of a city gal, Charlotte was sure a pretty place. Great for visiting (and eating!).

  1. I live in Charlotte and LOVE it! There are a lot of revolving doors in uptown I think mainly for trying to save energy (not letting air in/out when you go into a building) but they can be tricky if you are used to them. Glad you had fun! The city is so clean isn't it!

  2. I don't care for revolving doors as well. They move way too fast, and people always try to cram in there with you. What if your shoelace becomes untied... Just reading what you had to say and writing my comments has made realize how much I really dislike revolving doors!

  5. You make me smile. I don't care for taxis either, but it's definitely because I have control issues. ;) I don't like it when Ryan drives somewhere i"m unfamiliar with, either.

Also, I loled at the part about the room. I love the cleaning service, but my husband won't let the cleaners do their jobs when we travel. He's so paranoid.
