Happy Tuesday to you! I'm once again participating in virtual coffee over at Lucky Number 13.
I saved you a seat.
source So, if we were meeting for coffee today, the first thing I would do when I heard the little bells on the coffee shop door and saw you walking toward my table would be to yell "snow day!" This is a pretty big deal, after all. I work at a university and very rarely do universities close because of the weather. Right now the weather folks are calling for an "historic winter storm," "7 to 11 inches," "a whiteout," "impossible travel conditions," and "snow drifts exceeding 4 feet." My students are overjoyed. Me? Well since I am a hall coordinator and I live two feet from my office, it will be work as usual for me. I might be doing a few odd jobs since other staff might not be able to come in- like shoveling, taking out the trash, and flipping burgers in our dining hall. Kyle and I went to the grocery store last night to stock up on a few items before we get snowed in. Holy moly, you would have thought it was the end of the world. The milk was gone. I grabbed the last half-gallon less than vitamin D. The bread aisle was ransacked, the peanut butter was knocked over, there were no green peppers, and the cottage cheese was sparse for the pickins'. What is the world coming to??!! If we were meeting in a quiet coffee shop this morning, I'd also tell you what a restful weekend I had. Friday night we went to bed at 9:30pm and slept for a whole 12 hours. Saturday night we fell asleep at 10:30pm. Sunday I took a good 3.5 hour nap. I think my body is telling me that it should hibernate. What am I drinking? Tea of course. I've pretty much given up coffee at this point. I bought Constant Comment the other day. It's kind of an orange flavored black tea. It's my mom's favorite. Drinking it reminds me of home. I hope you're having a great Tuesday, friends. Have a cup of tea and think of me. "Tea pot is on, the cups are waiting, favorite chairs anticipating. No matter what I have to do, my friend there's always time for you." Author unknown |
Wow! That is a big deal when a university is closed. They are saying up to 28 inches in NW Indiana (where I live). Yikes. Some of it will depend where the band of lake effect snow hovers so we may not get that much but still.....!! Have a happy snow day!
ReplyDeleteAww, I love that quote! And tea! My favorite is Earl Grey...
ReplyDeleteI'm not a big tea fan, but I've been trying some to try to get into the habit. I like blueberry white tea and mixed berry green tea. I haven't tried black tea, I'll admit it kind of scares me.

If we met for coffee/tea today I would treat!!!
ReplyDeleteWow! You got a lot of sleep over the weekend!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it funny that you realize you're a grown up when you tell people about how much sleep you got rather than the lack of sleep due to partying / staying up too late?
Thanks for the coffee. I tried the Virtual Coffee post out for myself at my blog this morning and it was really fun to write about myself in that way! Just plain talk like you would have with a bud.
Constant Comment is my absolute favorite tea. I always have it in my cupboards! I'm a coffee girl, but that tea is fantastic!
ReplyDeleteWe don't have snow here in Colorado Springs, but the temp is -14 with a windchill of -34 and wind gusts of 21mph. So...yeah...
Thanks for the coffee (er, tea!).
Constant Comment is my favorite tea! Although I've recently discovered Tazo's Awake tea and that's pretty darn good too!
ReplyDeleteI love that quote at the end of your post! I've never stumbled across your blog before but it looks delightful! I think I will be back at lunchtime to look around! :)
I'll join you for tea. :)
ReplyDeleteI do enjoy Constant Comment too - I like that bit of citrus.
Yikes! About the weather! I have frost this morning but haven't had any snow this winter and today is clear and gorgeous. I'm going to do a little much needed spray painting to finish up some projects.
There are plenty of days I could sleep at least 12 hours. Today was not one of them, but my cat, not my body, decided that for me. :)
I hope you are able to stay warm!! This storm is supposed to be crazy!
ReplyDeleteI'm an English Breakfast or Earl Gray girl - at least one cup every night before bed!
Love this - I was hoping for a cat story! haha. ;)
That sounds exactly like my local grocery store. Ridiculous! Michigan State closed it's doors for the first time in 36 years. My baby cousin is ecstatic. He went out shoppin for his "staples" ya know.. beer, frozen pizza, nachos, and more beer. Gotta load up doncha know? ha!
ReplyDeleteThat tea sounds so lovely.. Tea sounds fab right now. Think I'll go brew a cup of decaf. Thanks for the chat!
I just love weekends like that when I actually have a chance to catch up on sleep and relax. We had a snow day today and school has been cancelled again tomorrow...lots of snow expected tonight. I am online while the power is flickering every 30 seconds...fingers crossed still that we don't lose power! thanks for joining in for coffee this week!
ReplyDeleteSounds like such a lovely restful weekend!! And tea sounds really good right now. I think I'd have a white tea...hopefully something uber fragrant! Thanks for sharing such a sweet quote!
