Waking up in the morning is probably my least favorite thing.
I know that sounds silly, but I really hate it. I despise the alarm. I scramble to hit snooze just one more time. I desperately cry out for five more minutes.
Who am I in the morning??
Although I will never, ever be a morning person, waking up on on earlier and more consistant schedule has been on my to-do list for quite some time.
I long to spring out of bed and be excited at the thought of a new day. To wake rested and full of energy. To bound into the kitchen for my first cup of coffee. To greet the morning with delight.
This is not, however, the current state of affairs.
I usually hit snooze for an hour, moan and groan, crawl into the shower, and grab a cup of coffee with barely enough time to get out the door.

(Please know that I have not had the time to read all of these completely. I'm adding them to my reading list as they seem (from the title and the opening lines) like helpful links.)

I am the same way! until I got a grown up job, I try and have a consistant schedule and find that the biggest variable in my waking up well, is going to bed early. I have to get up at 0615 in order to have my quite time and get ready for work. If I go to bed between 8:30-9 I find that I wake up before the alarm ready to go. If I stay up later I wake up to the darn alarm.
ReplyDeleteI used to be a morning person. And still mostly am, but my husband's schedule/being pregnant has changed my schedule. I need time to wake up in the morning and just relax a bit before I get moving. Allowing myself 30 minutes of down time in the morning is worth getting up 30 minutes earlier to me. I can sit and read some blogs while I eat my breakfast before I jump in the shower. It just helps me out so much!

Oh my gosh, I'm about to check out all of those links! I'm just not a morning person, but since I'm out of college with a full time job... I really need to get out of bed with more than fifteen minutes to get ready. Haha thanks!

ReplyDeleteI'm a morning person, until my husband wakes up. Then it's like this weird beast in me takes over and I get grumpy. Weird? yes! Anyway, I heard that if you have fresh cut flowers next to your bed so that they're the first thing you see, it somehow magically makes you start your day brighter and happier. I think I need to made a fresh flower necklace for my hubs to wear every.single.morning... kinda like garlic to vampires, fresh flowers to my beast ;)

ReplyDeleteMy goal for January was to not hit snooze for the entire month. Yikes! I'm a morning person once I'm up, but I really like sleeping. My tips are to figure out what time you really need to be up (I was setting my alarm too early & dragging it out with snooze), how much sleep YOUR body needs, and then go to bed on time. So basic it's ridiculous, but doing it really makes a difference.

ReplyDeleteyou are describing me exactly!!! i would REALLY love to start my days earlier like my hubby & not be in such a rush but i can't seem to cross the hurdle, although i'm sure going to bed at a decent time would help. i'll have to check those articles out!
ReplyDeleteI am not a morning person. Fortunately, I rarely have to rush out the door...I kiss my hubby goodbye & wake up slowly with a cup of coffee & {ideally} my bible. My poor husband. I'm sure I'm quite lovely in the morning... ;)
ReplyDeleteI am not a morning, and probably never will be. I have been struggling with staying up once I get up. I have to wake early to take my son to school, but then I come home and go back to bed with my baby. I feel like I'm just letting time sleep through my fingers.
