I've been keeping a secret. A 13 week secret that has me just busting out of the seams with excitement.
Kyle and I are expecting our first child!
I can't believe how quickly the time has flown by and how quickly it will continue to pass. When we first started trying, we were comforted by the fact we'd have 9 months to figure things out. Well goodbye "month one", and hello "that much closer to being clueless parents!"
We have had two sonograms and have heard the heartbeat. Everything looks and sounds great.
This week Baby D has formed fingerprints. Tiny fingerprints on his or her tiny little fingers. Everything about this experience is a miracle and a testament to God's amazing and perfect plans.
"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand— when I awake, I am still with you." Psalm 139:13-18
I'm trying so hard not to get to overwhelmed or overloaded with mommy information... but you know me, we've been together for a while, what advice do you have? Books recommendations? Blogs? Websites?
I want to thank you all a billion times over for coming along for the ride with me. Here's to another wonderful journey!
Congratulations!!! Looking forward to more updates! :)

ReplyDeleteAAAAHHHH!! Congratulations Laura, I am SO SO happy for you!!!
ReplyDeleteCONGRATULATIONS! this is amazing. So happy of you and your husband. :) :) :)
ReplyDeleteLaura! I am just so happy for you! I haven't entered official "mommyhood" yet (well, I think pregnancy counts, but 12ish weeks to go until baby gets here), but I can tell you that pregnancy just gets more and more miraculous. Feeling the baby move is so special and reassuring (and a fun thing to share with your hubby since at this stage it's one of the only ways for him to bond with the baby). There's a lot you can read out there (especially about pregnancy), just make sure you don't get too worried about all the things that could go wrong. One blog I read, Femina, offered great advice about having a baby, "Just remember that your baby is a gift, not a statistic. God created and sustained that life inside you. He gave you this child, open your hands to Him, and trust Him to protect what He has given you." My husband and I have been reading "Shepherding a Child's Heart" by Tedd Tripp and it is fantastic. It's about how to lead and direct your children's hearts, not just their behavior. A few friends have also recommended "Don't Make Me Count to Three" by Ginger Plowman. From what I've heard, that book is very practical and gets into a lot of the day to day of raising kids. I know you'll be a great mom because you have such a sweet and tender heart. Congratulations!!
ReplyDeleteCongrats Laura! I'm so happy for you guys!
ReplyDeletecongratulations!
ReplyDeleteCongrats! I always thought the What to Expect When You're Expecting book was the best!

ReplyDeleteYAY, laura!! such wonderful news! congrats! xo
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! If you don't mind me asking, how long did you all try? Husband and I have been off all forms of birth control since last October and are still not pregnant. I didn't want to chart or to try to figure out when I am fertile because I wanted to leave it all in the Lord's hands, but to be honest, this has been one of the hardest things ever! I know it can take over a year sometimes, but I have just been feeling discouraged.
ReplyDeleteThanks in advance!
Très bien
I figured I'd chime in with my experience: We stopped using all forms of birth control last May and finally conceived in December. I'm currently 21 weeks along. We weren't charting or anything like that, and we had a lot of crazy stressful stuff happen in those 7 months (new job, moving twice, new house, etc), but it happened in God's timing. Don't be discouraged, although if you think there is a chance that something might not be quite right, bring it up with your doctor. Good luck to you!
DeleteThanks Sarah!! It is always encouraging to hear others experiences :]
DeleteSo incredibly excited for you! I would recommend MalePractice - Robert S. Mendelsohn (book)
