Finding My Voice Again

For a while now I've put this space on hold, let it get dusty. I bottled up what words I had left and let my voice drift away.

I feel the itch to find my voice again. It's been a nagging feeling to want to write again. To share my story to the few who will care to read  (hi mom!). To reflect on important things and put those not-so-important things into perspective.

When I started writing, I felt more whole.

But then it got big, too big, and too much about others. Not enough about my story and my walk.

So if you'll entertain me, this is me jumping back in.

I'd love to know: how do you find your voice when it's been gone so long?

  1. I'm so happy to see you back in my reader this morning. So happy you are finding your way back, but glad you got to take a break when it was right for you.

As for finding a voice, I think I just find it when I use it. So write whatever you want whenever you can. I don't think you lost it. Maybe it's just a little hoarse from the break. ;)

    Hugs!

    1. So glad you haven't given up on my little blog! I agree, now that I'm writing again, it seems to be coming back pretty easily. Hope you had a great Christmas friend!!

  2. I know all too well how you've felt.
(I love that you gave your mom a little shout out. I do the same, because she truly is one of my most faithful blog readers...and she seriously gets on me when I don't post on my blog.)

Whenever I go for a long stretch without writing, and I feel like my voice is gone, I just post (exactly like you've done) and share my thoughts... and the act of typing or journaling my thoughts on paper always helps me to get back into the flow.
I'm not sure that helped at all, but I'm pretty sure your voice will bubble to the surface sooner than you think.
    ((hugs))

    1. Thanks Becky! I would love to get back to journaling this year as well. It was a such a huge part of my life growing up. Also, love that our moms are our biggest fans!

  3. Usually mine comes in a moment; a memory sparked by a song, smell or picture

  4. Welcome back!

Goodness, that is a good question and it is one that I have been pondering myself. I have been so busy with college and work these past months that I have posted less and less. But, I still truly desire to keep it up even if it is only my mom that reads it.

I hope you enjoy jumping back into writing on your blog!

  5. Moms are the best, aren't they?! When life gets busy, writing and reflection are the first things to go for me. I hope you have a happy new year and best of luck with work and school!
