Shops I Adore: See Kate Sew

There are just so many gorgeous handmade shops out there that I want to start sharing some of my favorites with you. Those shops that catch my eye, make me happy, bring a smile to my face.
Simply, shops that I adore.

Kate has one of my absolute favorite blogs ... she is such a talented lady and has some of my all time favorite tutorials.  So it's only natural that I would adore her shop as well.

First are her owls. They're just adorable.

And the headgehogs!

You can even make your own.

She also has such cute pouches and smashed ruffle wristlets.

Interview with Kate:
What is the story behind your shop name?

I am horrible at naming things. Take a look at my shop, I number owls in order of when I made them and call that a name. I have a book shop also, but wanted to separate things I sew from my other items. So I started thinking of names that had to do with sewing and came up with a whole bunch of dumb ones. Then I thought of see Kate sew, kind of like see Jane run from the classic Dick and Jane. I just went with it. I really don't like naming things, except babies. So that's that. :)

What inspires you to create?

I think like a lot of crafters I have this need that I have to fulfill. I don't know where it comes from but I'm so passionate about making something beautiful out of ordinary things. I love mixing medias too and you'll find that in my shop. The owls are all screenprinted first and then sewn into a stuffed toy. So sometimes I am inspired by one medium to create something in another. I love processes and assembly lines and lots of the same thing. I guess it is hard to explain, I just HAVE to create.

What can be found in your shop?

The very first thing I made for my shop were the screenprinted owls. We're on version 4 now. I like to print limited runs so everything in my shop is extra unique. After that I printed a few elephants. Then I just throw samples I made for my blog in the shop, like a nursing cover. I love making bird quilts, too. My newest item is stuffed hedgehogs. I'm loving woodlandia and I thought the owls needed some buddies. There is also a PDF Hedgehog Pattern available.

What is one word to describe your work?

One word! That's hard. Maybe "colorful". I love bright, happy colors.
