Day 6: Ephesians 2:10

Recently I saw a necklace for sale on one of the many "boutique sale sites." It was selling a hand-stamped necklace with up to four circles, one for each of your children.

At the same time I was really stuck in my life and trying to focus on God's love for me. Trying to get to the root of it and realize that I really am His beloved.

I ordered the necklace and used each of the 4 circles as a reminder that I am His creation.

Although there are many translations of Ephesians 2:10 saying that we are His workmanship, His creation, or His accomplishment, the New Living Translation really spoke to me.

"For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago."

I'm not just a fake or a phony piece, or a copy of an original. I'm a masterpiece. I'm HIS masterpiece.

Because of Jesus, I am a new creation.

And God has had me in mind all along! This whole time, since the beginning of the world, God has known what I was going to do...he had it all planned out.

The Message translates Ephesians 2:7 to "Now God has us where he wants us."

Wow, that really hits me. All the time I spend being upset with my schedule, feeling overwhelmed and overworked, being frustrated by stress.

Maybe God really does have me right where He wants me, to do the work He has set before me. The work He has had planned for me all along.

  1. thanks for sharing. sometimes it's really hard to feel like a masterpiece. most days i feel like the opposite.

  2. What a great necklace and what a great realization. There's a skit by the Skit Guys "God doesn't make junk". If you've never seen it you should youtube it. It's pretty much amazing! *HUGS* friend.

  3. Gorgeous! I wish everyone could have one of those - it is so sad to see how many people have no idea what a beautiful creation they are. Thank you for the post!

  4. i love the NLT version. that was awesome. I love exploring Gods word and realizing that even though we may not see it at first--bc we are too busy looking at our flaws--He has made us exactly the way He wants us to be. so awesome.

    thank you for sharing this.

  5. Awesome post, I think we all need to be reminded that we are God's best and he didn't make any mistakes when he was making us.
    Thanks for the encouraging post.
