Day 6: Ephesians 2:10

Recently I saw a necklace for sale on one of the many "boutique sale sites." It was selling a hand-stamped necklace with up to four circles, one for each of your children.

At the same time I was really stuck in my life and trying to focus on God's love for me. Trying to get to the root of it and realize that I really am His beloved.

I ordered the necklace and used each of the 4 circles as a reminder that I am His creation.

Although there are many translations of Ephesians 2:10 saying that we are His workmanship, His creation, or His accomplishment, the New Living Translation really spoke to me.

"For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago."

I'm not just a fake or a phony piece, or a copy of an original. I'm a masterpiece. I'm HIS masterpiece.

Because of Jesus, I am a new creation.

And God has had me in mind all along! This whole time, since the beginning of the world, God has known what I was going to do...he had it all planned out.

The Message translates Ephesians 2:7 to "Now God has us where he wants us."

Wow, that really hits me. All the time I spend being upset with my schedule, feeling overwhelmed and overworked, being frustrated by stress.

Maybe God really does have me right where He wants me, to do the work He has set before me. The work He has had planned for me all along.

  2. What a great necklace and what a great realization. There's a skit by the Skit Guys "God doesn't make junk". If you've never seen it you should youtube it. It's pretty much amazing! *HUGS* friend.
